February Valentine's Blog Hop!

Image
Happy Valentines Day to you all!  We want to welcome you to our February Blog Hop, thanks so much for joining us! We at Just a Few Friends have been "bagging" and "tagging" in our craft rooms trying to create something extra special for you this month.  Our assignment was to create or alter gift bags!  We were challenged to create our project using the following colors...RED, PINK, BROWN, BLACK...we could use them all, only one or a combination of two, three...whatever our HEARTS desired! We have a new Cub in our Pride and this is her first hop with us!  Please make Carrie feel welcome and show her some love!  Now let's begin our adventure for this month! My project this month is SURPRISE...a crocheted lace gift bag!  LOL!  I think I have rediscovered my love for crocheting as it seems like this is all I ever do anymore!  These would work as gift bags, treat bags or even wedding or baby shower favor bags!  My bag is holding litt...

I have been asked to give my testimony in Frankfort Ky at the State Capitol February 7, 2013.  Here is the flyer for that event. Please read the testimony and understand that is exactly what it is...my testimony...not a lead in for a debate, I have struggled with this for many years but now have a peace and calm.  Thank you for taking the time to read this.   I was the Executive Assistant to the CEO of Planned Parenthood in Lexington KY from Dec 2001 to August 2004. I do not say this with pride or bragging…I say this to show the extent of my guilt and the power of my testimony through Jesus Christ.   When I was contacted to speak here today I had already begun writing my testimony, thinking only to share in a smaller and more private setting.    With this opportunity I wondered… what could I possibly say to make a difference to someone else.   Then I was reminded that at some point and time in my past…someone spoke to me and gave me infor...

Happy January! Welcome to 2013!!!!  I hope this posting finds you well!  I also hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and the most awesome New Year!  Thank you so much for joining us for our 1st posting of 2013! To commemorate and celebrate our first year as a group, Just a Few Friends,  our Awesome and fierce Den Alpha Elsa challenged us all to create a calendar.  So we have all been ripping and roaring with our supplies to make them special!  Now, I used to not be one for calendars except for my appointment calendar...and I have only made one in my entire crafting career.  Guess I always think of it as counting down the days of our lives but not this time!  I want to celebrate and cherish each and every day! So it is with this enthusiasm that I created this calendar as my entry.  I have never done a project in pink, white and black...with a little bit of silver thrown in for good measure!  If you have reached my  blog by accide...

Pink Ribbon Tree for Sandy!

Image
As a lot of you may know my sister is a breast cancer patient and has been going through some pretty rough symptoms, treatments and procedures.  She has always been called "Aunt Sandy Claus" by all the nieces and nephews in our family and was well known to go over-the-top on Christmas...whether it be decorations, gifts or sweets.  The last year or so she was not able to put up a tree and her standard decorations.  My husband and I offered with the assistance of our adult children to go and put up her tree and decorations for her but she just wasn't feeling well enough to even do that.  So we got a little tree from Candy Messer at Pier 17's Whistler's Catch gift shop and we decorated it as a pink ribbon themed tree...and this is a picture she took of it...so glad she likes it!
